Gamethingy Supports The Smile Train

28 July 2008
Gamethingy is proud to support The Smile Train by making a small donation for every Training Game we sell.

Every single day in some of the poorest countries in the world, The Smile Train provides free cleft repair surgery for over a hundred children who would otherwise never receive it... surgery that gives them not just a new smile but a chance at a whole new life.

Clefts are a major problem in developing countries where there are millions of children who are suffering with unrepaired clefts. Most cannot eat or speak properly, aren't allowed to attend school or hold a job. Without free cleft repair surgery they face very difficult lives filled with shame and isolation, pain and heartache.

The surgery is relatively quick and inexpensive to perform - it takes as little as 45 minutes and costs as little as £150. With many families earning less than this in a whole year, surgery would remain well beyond their reach without the help of The Smile Train.

The Smile Train receives no government funding and relies entirely on donations from supporters. 100% of all donations go towards programmes because their founding supporters pay all of their overheads and non-programme expenses. Every penny given is put to work straight away to provide the help these children so desperately need.

The Smile Train Mission is:

To provide free cleft surgery for the millions of poor children in developing countries.
To provide free cleft-related training for doctors and medical professionals until there are no more children who need help.
Over the past eight years, Smile Train have provided free cleft surgery for over 200,000 children.
